Run With A Shelter Dog

Here is how it works and how you can help. Please forward to your dog loving, runner friends; our goal is to have 6-10 people for each run. Contact us to start volunteering.

Who: Shelter dogs rarely get a chance to get out and go for a good run and drain some energy. Our goal is to provide a fun break from their normal day to day kennel routine by taking those that like to run, out for a 30-45 minute run. Volunteers should be comfortable running with a dog who may not have the best running/leash manners.

What: This is a way to volunteer your time to a worthy cause, and get some exercise in the process. KC Dog Runners, LLC is a small business (started fall 2008) that specializes in taking dogs out for a 30 or 45 minute run, from one to five times per week, while their owners are at work during the day.

When: Our plan is to run on the second and third Saturdays of each month. As our volunteer base grows, we may expand to three or four weeks a month. So as not to take too much time from peoples days, we will start our runs around 9:00 a.m. and be done by about 10:00.

Where: We rotate between Wayside Waifs, and Pet Connection. We will start and end the run at the shelter.

Why: To give back to the community and raise awareness for these wonderful dogs up for adoption.
