A love of the outdoors, dogs, and physical fitness led Jeff on the journey of founding KC Dog Runners, Kansas City’s first and only dog running company. A husband, father, cyclist, runner, weight lifter, tennis player, hiker, and skier, Jeff practices yoga, has his black belt in Tae Kwon Do, has hiked the Appalachian Trail in 90 days, and has spent a winter perfecting back flips and moguls in Telluride, CO.
A graduate of the University of South Dakota’s Business School in 1998, Jeff has worked for one of Kansas City’s premier commercial insurance brokers, learning the ropes of the business world. Ready to get back to what he is passionate about, Jeff created KC Dog Runners in 2008.
OUR TEAM
We have a wonderful staff who are committed to providing a great workout for the dogs and top notch customer service to our clients. We are all committed to performing our jobs with integrity; we are trustworthy, caring and reliable. We are professional to the core.
We are excited to be partnering with Wayside Waifs to help run some of their dogs a couple of Saturday mornings per month.
Please come join us on February 2nd, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at Wayside Waifs. We start at 9:00 sharp and you can take one of their dogs out for a 45 min run. The dogs love it, they show better on busy Saturdays and are more likely to be adopted out. And you can get some quality volunteer time in and get your Saturday morning run completed at the same time!
Just show up, dressed for the weather. We will have leashes, clean up bags, running route, and some other instructions at the shelter.
Check back here for our schedule, or on our Facebook page.
Thanks, Jeff KC Dog Runners
We have been asked a few times if we can provide yard clean-up service. Apparently some of the pet waste removal services are not as reliable as they should be. So, for $13.50/week, we offer a once a week yard clean-up service. You may sign up for this service whether or not you are a regular KC Dog Runners client or not. You will receive a short text each week letting you know your yard has been cleaned up.
Mention that you follow us on Facebook or Twitter and your first week will be free.

There are several good reasons to use a mobile vet clinic. Dr. Geri with Compassionate Care Mobile Veterinary Service is serving Johnson County and will take great care of your pet in the comfort of your home. http://compassionatemobilevet.com
One of the toughest times to run dogs is after a snow storm, when the roads are plowed, salted, and the sun is out but temperatures are still cold. The road conditions are wet and slushy. You wouldn’t think that’s so bad, but your dog will likely tell you otherwise. Salt lowers the freezing point of water – think ice cream machine, so when that slush is saturated with salt, it will easily get between your dogs paws and it is REALLY, REALLY cold. So be kind to your four legged friend on the salty, wet, slushy winter roads.
If you have small children and a puppy in your home we recommend that the children, along with adult supervision, hand feed your puppy his meals for sitting. The benefits are twofold: 1) your puppy will begin sitting calmly for attention from children and 2) your puppy will associate your children with pleasant experiences rather than negative ones (e.g., being grabbed or stepped on). If you find that your puppy is biting your childʼs fingers the child can simply drop kibble on the floor once your puppy has sat.
We had a record turn out this past Saturday at The Pet Connection in Mission, KS. 25 people showed up to take a shelter dog out for a run. What makes this run unique is the fact that it was dry when everyone arrived, but by the time it was time to start running, it started to sprinkle, then within a few minutes, a torrential downpour. Thanks to everyone who came out, and ran in the rain. I know the dogs appreciated your efforts!!
Welcome to our new website. Here are a few new features.
We will be posting the dates of our volunteer shelter dog runs as well as a few of the larger shelter events we are involved with through out the year in our Upcoming Events section on the right hand side of the page. Our blog will feature monthly training tips from Canine Curriculum, tips on running with your dog, and random stories from our runners.
While not drastically different from our old site, we would love to hear from you, letting us know what you think.
